Jeanne Dillschneider meets with CERTAIN members at DFKI to discuss Trustworthy AI

On July 21 Jeanne Dillschneider from reuschlaw visited DFKI Saarbrücken to meet with executive director of DFKI and CERTAIN founding director Prof. Dr. Philipp Slusallek, CERTAIN executive board member and researcher Dr. Kevin Baum and Dr. Joshua Berger.

Her visit underlined the importance of aligning political vision with technical expertise. Jeanne Dillschneider made a strong case for protecting scientific freedom, creating real visibility for regional AI ecosystems, and enabling trustworthy innovation through clear, reliable regulatory frameworks. Rather than weakening the AI Act, she called for pragmatic tools like quick-checks for risk classification and compliance, stronger support for European AI business models, and real-world testing environments through regulatory sandboxes. Her emphasis on integrating cybersecurity standards from the outset, especially in the context of European gigafactories, highlights the need to think holistically about the AI landscape in Europe.

Trustworthy AI requires both technical excellence as well as the right institutional conditions, covering everything from policy to practice.
